Why I'm Weird (1 of Googolplex)
Right now, I have three DVD's that I rented. I watched one of the DVDs, but haven't seen the two others yet. I've had them for about three days or so. The odd thing is, I want to go and rent DVDs!
That means returning the unwatched flics and getting three different ones. So I think what's happening here is that I must subconsciously enjoy the anticipation of having the option of watching a movie. After having the movies for a while, anticipating watching them becomes old, and I need new material to anticipate. I rent at Hollywood video, with the plan where you pay a fixed monthly fee and can rent as much as you want (releases less than a few weeks old excluded). Since I've gotten on this plan, I've returned about 30 to 40% of movies unwatched. There are movies I've rented three times, to watch only once.
So here I sit, at 9:40pm, after having been out and about for work nearly 12 hours, and I want to return two movies that I haven't watched yet, because the idea of watching them doesn't excite me. Maybe I just like having three options. So I can watch one, and if that sucks, I got a backup, and a backup for the backup.
Am I really just feeding my anticipation? So many times I've done exactly what I feel like doing now, returning three movies, two of which I haven't watched, to rent three new movies, but then end up not watching any movies that night.
Does anyone else do these kinds of things?
